Larrasoana to Pamplona Part 2

Everywhere is within walking distance if you have time.
Pamplona! It conjures up visions of young men with red scarves trying to not get run over by the bulls. I gather if you are a male it is considered compulsory. And if you are an Ernest Hemingway way fan you will know that he made the San Fermin festival famous worldwide.

Now all we have to do is get to Pamplona.
Each area has their own unique way of indicating the Camino. This is Pamplona's.
We tried to take an alternative route along the river but got a little mixed up so needed to find our way to the Puente de Magdalena to meet up with the Camino again. Thank goodness for google maps and the Buen Camino app.
You know when you are on foot. 20 km to a big city then means at least a few more km to cross part of the city and then find you accommodations.
The wall of the old city.

The Portal de Francia.
The view from our apartment balcony when we finally found it. We entered Pamplona dead tired and managed to find our way to the address. Google was giving us a hard time and we ended up going down streets only to realize we needed to go up on the hill. Luckily there was a small tram that took us up a level. We found the address only to find out it was the booking address not the apartment address. We managed to sort of find the area but it said Portal number 6. We finally figured out it was the building number. Our place was on the Plaza de Castillo. The very centre of town where all the action happens and it goes all night.

Plaza de Castillo

These were library books under the awnings. They opened up later in the day.
Portal number 6.
And of course you can't come to Pamplona and not have coffe/tea at Cafe Iruna where Hemingway hung out.
Tomorrow we head for Obanos.
