Villatuerta to Monjardin

In every walk with nature one receives far more than you seek.

We started in Villatuerta and headed towards Estella. About 4 km.
Ermita de San Miguel-hermitage of San Miguel built around 971.
Coming into Estella.

Now I have to explain this. When we were in Pamplona the directions were to take the garbage out. It turns out that you take your garbage and recycling to these little centers around the neighborhood.
Just outside of Estella is this blacksmith who does amazing work. This is the outside of his shop.
Walk a little further and you are in Irache. Where the monks own a winery and there is free flowing wine out of the wall. Roz got water. And of course it was raining.

The winery/monastery.
Footpath for pilgrims.
Making our way to Monjardin along the monastery.
Walking path fairly nice walking.
Look closely at the top of that mountain. That is where we are going.
This is a sample of the eroded path that went for 4km up.
Getting closer.
Terraced hillsides.
More eroded paths.
At Monjardin this is a bath house for weary pilgrims.
The church right near where our albergue was.
Our albergue is straight ahead.
Right below the fortress.
