Astorga to Foncebadon
ASTORGA TO FONCEBADON
It was time for Jarrod to start walking the whole way we were traveling so he set out first thing and Roz and I hopped a cab to La Gonso about 12 km. We left at 8am and when arrived in El Gonso the sun hadn't come up yet. The sky was just starting to lighten up.
Just enough light to make it walkable without a head lamp.

There is a little gift shop where I bought a handmade rosary. This is the brother that makes them.

This area had planted trees along the path so that someday there would be shade but this little guy was like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree.

Beautiful sunrise.
Lovely way markers. Coming close to Templar territory.
Two at a time.
Here comes the sun.
This was an area where people had woven crosses made of sticks into the fence.
Church in the middle of nowhere. More Templar style.
Rabanal del Camino.
A gorgeous little village that had a pilgrim hospital in 1103. There are remains of Roman gold mines around the area.
Romansque style church.
I love these little churches with their humble interiors.
This village has a monastery.
It is nice and light too. I tried to buy one before I left from a monastery in the states that made Camino rosaries but the shipping costs were more than the rosary.
Nice walking path on our way to Foncebadon. 5km to go.
Foncebadon.
