Navarrete to Najera

The way of kindness:
Be kind to your fellow pilgrims; Be kind to those that offer hospitality and be kind to yourself.

Leaving Navarrete. A beautiful town on the top of a hill. So of course you have to walk downhill to get out of town.
This is an explanation for the next two pictures.
Grapes everywhere. There were little tractors and people harvesting grapes. I also saw some people harvesting olives.
Fun with shadows.
An oasis picnic areas that, of course, looks out over, what else, but a church.
Rocky path up and up.
At the top was this fellow singing and playing a one string instrument.
More grapes.
Poyo de Roldan. Legend has it that Roldan, the nephew of Charlemagne killed the Muslim giant Ferragut with a well aimed rock. Roldan liberated the town and freed Charlemagne's army. Or it could be a hut used by grape farmers and bee keepers for protection from the elements.
Coming into Najera. Najera is set between the river and this beautiful back drop.
Heraldry is very prominent in Najera. There are lots of crests and symbols all over this town.
The back drop is spectacular.

This used to be a monastery but is now a museum and houses the crypts of kings and queens of the area.
I just loved the rocks.
