Tricastela to Sarria to Portomorin
Tricastela to Sarria required a rest day for Cindy and Roz therefore a bus trip. Jarrod got to walk the 18.7 km although an easy day for him until he hit all the stairs he had to climb to get into Sarria. Sarria is the largest Galcian City on the Camino de Santiago. It is the choice of many to start their Camino here as it is 114km from Santiago and to be eligible for a Compostela you must walk a minimum of the last 100km collecting 2 stamps a day.
We had dinner at a wonderful Italian restaurant where the bowls they served the meals in were made of bread.
We headed out in the morning from Sarria.
There were so many more people it was difficult to actually take pictures without a lot of people in them. We met a bunch of students from Belgium. 70 grade 12 kids from a Catholic school who, for the last 10 years, brings the graduating class on The Camino. 5 days from Sarria to Santiago. They were lively, boisterous and very nice.
Our path today was a lot of forest paths and woodland lanes.
For whatever reason Spain likes to build highways high in the sky.

111.571 km to go.
I had been hearing about people who arrived at an albergue and there was no restaurants or bars and had to eat out of vending machine. The little medieval villages are gone to be replaced with little farming village albergues with vending machines. This little shop though got Roz and I into it with a very charming sales man. We bought a few things off of him just to support the small businessman.
They use these rocks for fence posts.

The rock walls are everywhere.

Different horreo.

Cows everywhere but check out those tree burls.

I can't imagine how long it took to build these walls.

We came across this church with all these family graves. Walls of them.

Obviously someone important.

Peak inside the church.

We figured this was a very old pilgrims seat.

One of the Belgium students took our picture at the 100km mark.

Granite walls and slate roofs.
The bridge into Portomorin.

The stairs up to Portomarin.
We made it..
The view from our window looking down from the city to the river.
